Current Teaching Series: JoyFull: Fill Up And Never Run Dry
When was the last time you heard someone talk about having joy in their life when what they were really describing was temporary happiness — joy’s imposter! Many times and without knowing it, people order happiness from life’s menu, despite the fact that it’s fickle, short-lived, dependent upon the winds of fortune and often subject to circumstance.
Joy, on the other hand, is something much deeper and more enduring! It’s more than a feeling and can be experienced when the sun is shining or the storm is howling. Philippians, the 11th book of the New Testament, is marinated in joy! The joy is so real you can practically taste it with every verse you read, yet the author, the Apostle Paul, is in chains and on trial for his very life when he wrote it!
Working through these four power-packed chapters, you will be introduced to many life-changing truths of the Christian faith. Truths that not only build an unshakeable foundation for your faith but enable you to experience joy in the midst of personal pain. Struggling with relationships? Paul reveals a Christ-centered joy that can lift you above the fray and bring peace to angry, bitter and dissatisfying relationships.
Surely, if anyone had reason to be disappointed it was Paul. He was a prisoner confined to chains and later to house arrest. Yet through it all, he refused to let his circumstances dictate his emotions and instead found strength to endure through a personal, intimate relationship with Jesus Christ. Study along and discover why joy does not depend on circumstances and how you, too, can experience the joy of an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ in the same way Paul did.
